Last week Youth Liaison Officer with the Gosford Police, Rebecca Armitage, visited Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School Wyoming to educate students and teachers alike about the importance of cyber safety.
Principal of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School, Bernard Cumming said students at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School Wyoming are taught to be thinkers, and discerning users of technology.
“We encourage students to think independently and ask ‘why?’, as we want our students to be thinkers within the 21st Century environment,” he said.
“To enhance learning and ensure they are prepared for high school and beyond, children have access to iPads and Chromebooks, as well as other devices, allowing them to gain access to a plethora of platforms to support their learning.
“Students will be provided a task, and we want them to have knowledge of different devices and tools, and to think to themselves ‘What is the best tool to use to complete this work?’
“We are very much aware that the digital world is constantly changing, and the safety of our students in a digital world is of utmost importance.
“We are very grateful to our local Youth Liaison Officer with the Gosford Police, Rebecca Armitage, for visiting the school recently and educating our Year 3-6 students on the importance of cyber safety and what that means.
“We are very grateful to Rebecca for making time to come to OLR and share her expertise.”
